Fox just capsulized the special features lineup for its highly anticipated Blu-ray release of "Alien Anthology," which streets Oct. 26.
The big picture: 60 hours of extras and more than 12,000 "Alien" series images. Four hours of content not been seen before, Fox says.
The Blu-ray "Alien" set features something called "MU-TH-UR Mode," described as "a fully interactive companion that takes the extensive materials in the (Blu-ray set) and puts them in the user’s hand -- connecting fans to special features on all six discs."
Intriguing "unseen" materials include Sigourney Weaver screen tests for the first "Alien," deleted scenes and an uncut making-of docu on the third movie -- the one taken away from director David Fincher.
All four "Alien" movies unspool with the theatrical original and a director's cut/special edition (branched).
"Alien Quadrilogy," the remarkable DVD set from 2003, appears to provide most of the supporting materials on "Alien Anthology," notably the massive 12-hour documentary series that provided the backbone of the collection.
In addition, Fox says, extras were ferreted out from all home video releases of "Alien" adventures, in effect starting with the 1991 and 1992 laserdisc releases.
