"Step Up 2 The Streets
" recipe for success: 1. Mix "Love Story," "Flashdance" and "Fame." 2. Run through the sequel blender. 3. Serve inspirationally.
The dance movie starring Briana Evigan pranced to the No. 1 slot in DVD sales for the week ending July 20.
Another Disney/BV live-action feature, "College Road Trip," made the grade for second place in sales and third in rentals. It stars Martin Lawrence as doting dad and Raven-Symone as his empty-nest builder.
Lionsgate's "The Bank Job" with Jason Statham pulled in some cold hard cash, making off with the No. 1 spot in rentals and No. 3 in sales. The movie felt by the numbers to me, but critics seemed to like its old-school caper-film vibe.
Sales (week ending July 20)
1. Step Up 2 the Streets
2. College Road Trip
3. The Bank Job
4. Batman Begins
5. Penelope
Rentals (week ending July 20)
1. The Bank Job
2. Step Up 2 the Streets
3. College Road Trip
4. Vantage Point
5. Drillbit Taylor
I think that's the shortest post I've ever seen you make about a movie! ;) It's interesting to see Batman Begins bumped up there. Apparently, plenty of people who went to see The Dark Knight had no idea that it was a sequel to something...
