Pick of the week: Cult Camp Classics I-IV
Dog of the week: No woofer this week, sorry
The way it went with "Black Snake Moan,"
you either loved it or hated it. Me, I liked it. Samuel Jackson and Christina Ricci star in a tale of dirt-road enslavement. The movie's nowhere as lurid as the marketing suggests, despite the man's long chain. Sad to report that it turns sentimental in that weird Stockholm Syndrome way. Ricci brings serious drive-in hotness to her white-trash role, for which she's barely clothed. The blues soundtrack is the subject of a decent bonus docu.
I sampled Warner Home Video's "Cult Camp Classics" via "Attack of the 50-Foot Woman." Hadn't seen it in decades. Stupid movie but a respectable retro-goof. Interesting commentary from other-woman Yvette Vickers, who talks mostly about herself.
