"Apocalypto,"
Mel Gibson's bloody good show about warring Maya, raced to the top of the sales and rental pyramid for the week ending May 27. "Pan's Labyrinth,"
another visual stunner from New Line, slipped to No. 2 on both charts.
Buena Vista reportedly saw its "Apocalypto" generate about $6 million in rental revenue.
Newcomer "Letters From Iwo Jima" hit the beach for team Warner with a third-place showing in sales, and fourth place in rentals. Fox's "Epic Movie" had a big enough premiere: No. 4 in sales and No. 3 in rentals.
