As of 9:30 p.m. PT. five of the top 10 discs on Amazon's most-popular-items list were Oscar related. "The Secret" is No. 1, but "The Departed" and "Babel" held No. 2 and 3.
Amazon sent over this report of sales activity in the hours after the Oscarcast (as of 9 a.m. ET):
* After winning for live action short, "West Bank Story" moved from No. 19,152 to No. 92 on Amazon.com's top-sellers list for DVDs, making it the No. 1 "Mover & Shaker."
* As Forest Whitaker took home the award for best actor, "The Last King of Scotland" (preorder) saw an overnight increase of 269 percent, placing the DVD in the No. 8 position on the movers list.
* Best picture winner "The Departed" saw an increase of 150 percent, placing the DVD at the No. 14 position on the Movers list, while "The Departed" (Blu-ray) had an overnight increase of 105 percent, making it the No. 21 mover.
* Following "Babel's" win for best original score, the Blu-ray version rose from No. 190 to No. 102 -- an increase of 86 percent.
* With four noms, "Notes on a Scandal" (preorder) moved from No. 428 to No. 203, making it the No. 18 Mover & Shaker.
