It's like the feds opened the gates to Area 51: Fox Home Entertainment today confirmed release of the 61-disc DVD box set "The X-Files: The Complete Collector's Edition."
Fox says the "exclusive limited edition mega-boxset" includes a new bonus disc that examines "the complex web of alien and government conspiracies within the story arc" from the "The X-Files Mythology" DVD collections. The "Threads of the Mythology" featurettes are "Abduction," "Black Oil," "Colonization" and "Super Soldiers."
Other goodies include the 1998 movie "The X-Files: Fight The Future," a season 1 comic book, art cards, a theatrical poster.
The set debuts Nov. 6, priced at $330. This appears to be mostly a repackaging job, aimed at well-heeled holiday gift-givers. Or perhaps a conspiracy of gift-givers.
More DVD release news: Everyone loves "Knocked Up." Now everyone can own it: Universal Studios Home Entertainment has the Judd Apatow comedy set for Sept. 25 in an "unrated two-disc special edition" as well as single-disc rated and unrated. Looks like a lot of fun extras. ... Disney/Pixar's "Cars" comes to Blu-ray on Nov. 6 with new extras. ... Fox has the tasty Russian vampire pic "Day Watch" on Oct. 30 with a director's commentary.
61 discs is WAY more X-Files than I'll ever need but I do know one person who will be thrilled with this set and I'm sure that she'll rush out and grab it and then disappear for days and days while she watches each and every disc :-)

Hey Michael, that's gotta be weeks and weeks. I watched an "X-Files" season in a couple of sittings a while back for a review -- it was good TV but that was more than enough!
I see the attraction, though: good writing, acting and directing and some seriously spooky stuff now and then.
Thanks for the comment, look forward to your next one.
